Bottom line: MRI permissible with the exception of magnetically attached devices. Remove all removable components prior to MRI. Monitor for thermal injury.

Conditions:

  • Devices that are removable MUST be removed.
  • Caution is advised as some denture devices have a magnetic component which allows routine removal by the patient.
  • If dentures are permanently implanted and non-magnetic, MRI is permissible with precautions to monitor for thermal injury.

Bottom line: MRI permissible with the exception of magnetically attached devices. Remove all removable components prior to MRI. Monitor for thermal injury.
