Epicardial Pacer Leads

Safety:  Conditional

Risks:  Thermal, Arrhythmia

Conditions:

• NO PULSE GENERATOR may be present.
• Leads do not protrude through the skin or have connectors.
• No obvious loops or discontinuity (i.e. no fractures) of the leads are present.
• Take precautions to limit and monitor for symptoms of thermal injury.

Comments: No waiting period is require after implantation.

Bottom Line: Only residual lead fragments remaining after removal may be considered MRI permissible, if all conditions are met.
